Engineering admissions in Gujarat are centralised through the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC). Whether you're aiming for a top GTU college, a self-financed institute or a government engineering college, the path runs through this single counselling process.

Step 1: Appear for the qualifying exams

  • JEE Main — gives weightage in the merit list and is mandatory for some quotas.
  • GUJCET — Gujarat's state-level entrance for 12th Science students.
  • 12th Science board marks — combined with GUJCET / JEE in the ACPC formula.

Step 2: Register on the ACPC portal

Once results are declared, register on the ACPC website, fill personal details, upload documents (10th and 12th marksheets, GUJCET / JEE scorecard, caste certificate if applicable, school leaving certificate, Aadhaar, photo and signature).

Step 3: Document verification

Verification happens at designated help centres. Carry originals plus two sets of self-attested copies. Don't skip this — your registration is not valid without verification.

Step 4: Choice filling

This is the most important step. List as many college + branch combinations as possible in order of preference. A common mistake is filling only top choices — always include backup options to avoid losing your seat.

Step 5: Seat allotment and confirmation

Seats are allotted based on merit and your choice list. Pay the token fee online and report to the allotted college within the deadline.

Step 6: Upward movement and vacant round

If you want a better option, you can opt for upward movement in subsequent rounds. The vacant round opens seats that remain after the main counselling.

Tips students often miss

  • Keep digital and physical copies of every receipt.
  • Don't ignore tier-2 cities — many colleges in Vadodara, Rajkot and Anand have excellent placements.
  • Use GUJCOM to compare college fees, placement records and facilities before locking your choice list.
